A Century of Play: Celebrating 100 Years with
Dusyma
Dusyma, the world’s first kindergarten supplier, was founded in 1925, and for the past 100 years has been synonymous with exceptional quality, safety, and pedagogical value. This milestone marks a century of dedication to creating innovative educational toys, furniture, and learning resources that inspire children’s development.
How It All Began
Dusyma was founded by Kurt Schiffler, a talented engineer and inventor with a passion for education, mathematics, and art. During his visits to kindergartens, Schiffler was struck by the primitive, uncomfortable furniture and lack of child-friendly resources, which hindered children’s ability to freely explore and develop. Motivated by this, he began designing innovative products that would foster creativity and learning. His early creations included colourful building blocks, hand-painted dominoes, and ergonomic furniture.
In 1935, Schiffler introduced the plug-in building block, a versatile toy that allowed children to construct buildings and structures. This invention predated LEGO’s interlocking bricks by nearly two decades and became an enduring symbol of Dusyma’s emphasis on quality and innovation.
From these early innovations, Dusyma laid the foundation for a legacy of quality that continues to inspire the world of early childhood education today.
