The nursery selected three whole and two half cardboard honeycombs, which are proving to be an excellent addition to their learning environment. Designed to offer calm, rest, and support emotional regulation, the honeycombs create cosy retreat spaces where children can take time to relax, recharge, or engage in quiet play.
Diane Gregory, Nursery Manager, shared:
“We are having a great time with the honeycombs, up to this point the play ideas from the children have been amazing. For a group of 3 children, the honeycombs were their hotel, the different honeycombs being their rooms, following one child’s interest of having returned to nursery from holiday! They are making fabulous independent spaces, especially for children who feel they need a space of their own for a short period or they are tired (falling asleep is happening nicely!) they love to have their stories from grown-ups whilst they lie/sit/curl up into them and the concentration and participation in the books from the children has been noted as greatly improved awareness!”
This simple yet versatile concept is proving to be a valuable addition to early years environments. Honeycombs offer flexibility for nurseries and learning spaces looking to create dedicated areas for retreat, rest, and quiet interaction. Their design allows settings to adapt them to different needs, providing children with spaces to pause, reflect, or engage in small group activities.
